The romantic estate of Hofgut Mappen – originally known as “Hof zum Appen” – first appeared in official documents in the year of 1173 when it was mentioned as part of the Eberbach Cistercian Monastery. And still up until today it has lost nothing of its mediaeval character and its rustic charm.
Just as monks in days of old sought within its walls inner tranquillity and seclusion from the outside world, today the estate still remains an oasis of peace and serenity and enables its visitors to feel at one with Mother Nature. Well removed from the hustle and bustle of city life, from business appointments and all manner of noise pollution, our guests are able to savour the charming atmosphere of bygone days – and also benefit from the natural rhythm of time and its passage.
Despite its idyllic surroundings and peacefulness, the estate is a place exuding vivacity and vitality: since 1998 Hofgut Mappen has established itself as a successful centre for the breeding of thoroughbred horses and also as an attractive hunting ground teeming with red deer. Not only passionate hunters but also keen horsemen and horsewomen are offered unforgettable experiences against the backcloth of perfect countryside.
